St. Martin’s by the Lake before Easter

I stopped in the lot on Tuesday, and I

took a few photos before Good Friday and Easter. Lafayette’s Bay. I was rushing to a class, but I could not resist the pre-Easter photos. - In my hurried state I did not pull back enough --losing sight of the top of the steeple. Is that not analogous?

Ice out Lake Minnetonka

I hasn't happened yet, but lets admit it, its going to happen soon. The ice is dark and distant and the temperatures are  for ice, life threatening. So soon the new

season begins - and a bit early.

Luck of the Lake 5K - Excelsior. March 12

Saturday morning was sunny and warm. I positioned myself by the bridge at St. Alban's Bay. I was the sole spectator at this point. This explains why so many of the near 2,00 runners took the opportunity to say good morning to me. It surprised me.

The runners were fast this year, and the times reflected it. Many breezed by me at the end running some pretty good times. The winners Nate Hoffman and Amy Omanran 15:44 and 18:37 respectively.

In my bracket, the over 60 group, there were some really good times and I May update later> I would hve been hard presssed to make the top... 5. But I wanted to watch this year, and I am sticking with that excuse.

Last year I ran the Luck of the Lake St. Patrick's Day 5K run .... and frankly I did pretty well. This year I think I will watch and post photos or the runners. I have already run one 5K this year and I ran miserably. Not my day, but I did it.
Now to enjoy a sunny Saturday and watch the others run... unless I have a change of heart.
I will try to post a few photos of the competitors.

Ice out Status

I walked along the Excelsior Commons shoreline Sunday to check the status of the ice. I was softening but stretched un broken. I did see a few ATV rider scampring near the edge and having a good time.

In town the pedestrian traffic was steady and lively. The sun sent people to the streets as Winter loses its grip. Earlier, when I ran down the trail and crossed Water Street a man shouted out  unsolicited “ I sure have seen a lot of runner today!”. I was pleased to qualify as a runner... in his mind any way. I think the number of runners reflets the upcoming Luck Of the Lake 5K,  and people preparing to give it a shot.

Castles in the Sandwich

It is said that White Castle has a cult following, it is underscored wheneven I pass by. Strange figures lurk....

St. Alban's Feb. 28th.

I took this from the bridge at 7am and there was a desolate feeling to the bay. It is no wonder Julius Ceasar borrowed days from February fo his own month. February can be a bleak month where one anticipates. This year is a leap year. We try to correct Julius' efforts a bit.
