Railroad song remembered
Selected lyrics. Roger Miller.
"Third boxcar, midnight train, destination, Bangor, Maine
Old worn out suit and shoes, I don't pay no union dues
I smoke old stogies I have found, short, but not too big around
I'm a man of means by no means,
king of the road
I know every engineer on every train
All their children and all of their names
And every handout in every town
Every lock that ain't locked when no one's around
I sing, "Trailers for sale or rent,
rooms to let, fifty cents
No phone, no pool, no pets,
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but, two hours of pushin' broom
buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means,
king of the road"

Warm Apple Day greetings and Apple day 5K
A warm Apple Day Greeting at 9 am Saturday. The bright morning sun warmed the streets and trails for the 5k, but created havoc for me taking photos. Bright light, dark shadows. Isn't that life? The epitomé of AppleDays was represented by Avery's Orchard of Meyer MN.
Honey balm!
This 5K really is a fun run. Finishing on a clay and gravel trail (oh, there is about 150 yards of paved trail near the finish) about 250-300 runners to my estimation. 72 degrees and glaring sun, the finish line looked transcendental. The runners seem to be a little surprised by the warmth.

Burwell House - revisited 9/2014
I stopped by the Burwell House and crept around. It was a windy 50 something and the walkways creaked. I was alone - well pretty-near. A young couple came out o the barn area and I suspect romantic activities preceded. I hope so. The grounds looked lovely, and Minnehaha Creek was flowing at a brisk pace, considering.

The COV, Wayzata
Sunsets' gone.... Sunsets is now The Cov. I don’t know how to insert the line above the O in COV on my keyboard, but there is one in their name. The interior is elegant white, with a nautical theme. The staff is young and good looking. New; Island bar. We only dined there once, and it takes more than one time to get the picture. I asserted myself, and we took a table with a view of "the lake". Very nice. A train rumbled by as we dined, and as a trainspotter I was happy with that.
