Excelsior Bay, a sunny evening in March.

A boat heads out of the Excelsior Bay no wake zone.
I gaze as it powers up and heads towards Gideon's Bay. 60 degree warmth attracts camera lenses. The trees are bare. A golden light reflects and young girls with their cell phone cameras pointed awkwardly take photos to share. A young man with a professional level Canon SLR is shooting directly into the sunset. I have my Canon too.

It is a photogenic evening.

Wild Turkeys in my yard

"Once extirpated from Minnesota, wild turkey restoration has been a phenomenal success. Today's turkey population descended from a successful release of turkeys that occurred between 1971 and 1973 when 29 adult wild turkeys were trapped in Missouri and transplanted to Houston County in extreme southeastern Minnesota. Since this modest beginning over 30 years ago, Minnesota's population has grown to more than 70,000 wild turkeys." _ Mn DNR

They are not so very rare,
and finding them is not so hard,
I'd like to think them a moving feast,
passing through my yard.

Fox on the run.

I was finishing a less than successful photo excursion in Wayzata when who came ambling by? This very long and lanky fox. No problem, he knew about the yellow lines and no passing zones. He was an urban character,  looking for a few ducks or geese to try too far.
(I think he had just come off the new roundabout.)

Gideon's Bay wears a thin winter coat.

St. Patrick Day 5K is cool

The lead runners sailed by chatting casual as they heard the finish. I was postponed about 2 minutes from the finish, so my estimate of time was - well, worthless. It was cold, only about 10 degrees, which is a departure from the 30s and 40s  of previous years.
I will check on names and times.  The grey weather and cold temps made for a very quiet stream of runners as filed past and they finished the 5K.

Yes, she is a great runner,  and very stylish - but ORANGE shoes on St. Patrick's Day!

Not an easy break-up. Gideon's Bay

I arose to temperatures around 3 degrees and breezy. Shrugged my shoulders and decided against a run. Easy decision. This will put off  "Ice out" and cause me too cling to the snowblower in the garage. Tomorrow I will take photos at eh chilly Excelsior St. Patricks Day 5K.  A non participant again... sigh!
