Thorpe Park 2012, Deephaven

Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe. Born 1888.
The Park was not named after Jim Thorpe,it was named after a family in Deephaven who originally owned part of the land the park is built on. The Bennis family also owned some of the Park. I am sure a member of the Deephaven Historical Society can set me straight. I attended one meeting of the Deephaven Historical Society.

None the less, Jim Thorpe was truly a legend in American History and in Olympic History and so this Olympic Season is a fine time to remember "the worlds greatest
athelete". More to come...
