Big Island and Back Cross Country Ski Race

Note: Big Island was not to be a part of the race. I do not know the complete details, just that the open water was an obvious danger. I arrived at the start as the instructions were being called out to the participants. An alternative course had been mapped for a 7 kilometer race. It involved a few circles at the midpoint in order to achieve the distance. That's all water under the bridge. But it is February. The C.C. Ski race to Big Island and back never made it out of St.Alban's Bay. I watched as a throng of about 150 skiers shooshed and shuffled to circumnavigate the shoreline of St. Albans Bay. The sun was high and snow blindess effected my photographic abilities (Glaucoma and all that rot).
