Now Pluto is one of the dwarves.

The International Astronomical Union has re-defined the term "planet". As of August 22, Pluto became a "Dwarf Planet".
So what is hard science? Just a group of definitions, categories and subcategories? I think not. Since 1930 Pluto was a planet... a proud one I might add. Now it has been rellogated to rubbing elbows with Sneezy and Dopey.
