Every time I try to move: One two three red light...

I am wondering: Is this because this is a most dangerous intersection, which I can assure you it is, or because at night when there is very little traffic, drivers become testy waiting for the light to change through a long cycle?

I can assure you I have personlly witnessed many accidents and near-accidents during daylight hours when left turning traffic meets oncoming traffic racing to catching the end of a yellow light.
